Now's the time to start thinking about Apple Black Friday 2021 bargains. It's been a big year for Apple with a whole raft of new devices including fresh iPads, four versions of the iPhone 13, the Apple Watch 7 and, of course, that sweet new MacBook Pro, which means we could see some impressive Apple Black Friday deals.

New Apple gear means that you can expect some hot discounts on older models with lower specs, particularly around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but that not may be all; last year we saw surprise savings on brand new Apple kit, so anything could happen this year. You might be able to get a little knocked off the price of that new 16-inch MacBook Pro for Apple Black Friday, but you'll almost certainly be able to save more on last year's gear.

Apple Black Friday: When is it?

The Black Friday weekend kicks off straight after Thanksgiving in the US, which means that Apple Black Friday is on 26 November. The fun carries on over the weekend and then Cyber Monday is on 29 November.

As we all know, though, we're likely to see plenty of Black Friday Apple deals and Apple Cyber Monday deals before that. With so many retailers in competition for your custom, not to mention the need to clear older stock, you're certain to find discounts throughout November. That said, most hold back the biggest headline Apple deals for the official Black Friday weekend, so you have to weigh up whether to hold out for bigger Apple savings.

Does Apple have Black Friday sales?

The Apple Black Friday approach is a little different to the way most companies and retailers do Black Friday. Rather than offering discounts, it tends to offer Apple Black Friday gift cards instead. So when you spend money at the Apple Store you'll get a gift card that you can redeem at a later date.

Last year, you could get an Apple Black Friday gift card worth up to $200 / £160, but you had to buy a MacBook to get the top gift card. The upshot is if you're looking for an Apple Black Friday discount, you're generally better off looking at other retailers that sell Apple products rather than heading directly to Apple itself.

How to get the best Apple Black Friday deals

If you're after the biggest discounts on Apple gear, the Apple Black Friday sale is the time to look for them. While Apple gear holds its value well and rarely sees massive discounts, Apple Black Friday's when you're most likely to see relatively big savings. And although the discounts are unlikely to be earth-shattering, even a modest saving with an Apple Black Friday deal is worth taking advantage of.

In terms of where to find the best deals, as we said, don't bother heading to the Apple Store itself unless you want an Apple Black Friday gift card (to spend in the future at the Apple Store). Almost all of the best Apple Black Friday deals come from third-party retailers. Amazon, Curry's and B&H Photo offered some of the biggest discounts last year, which included dropping the price of the all-new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air by almost 10 per cent.

Advance Apple Black Friday Deals: iPads

There were some good Black Friday deals to be had on the iPad in 2020 – with £50 off the 2019 iPad, and also the odd $30 off the iPad Air. Advance Apple Black Friday Deals: MacBooks

Last year, the MacBook Pro saw savings of around $60 over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday period, and there was up to £107 off at Amazon UK, taking the price to just £1,192. This was better than expected at the time because the M1 machine was so new, so we'd expect to see bigger savings this year.

We also saw savings on older models last year, including the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2020), which had £200 off at Currys, taking it to £1,049. Older MacBook Airs, such as the 2020 model, saw big discounts, too including $170 off at B&H Photo, taking the price down to $929 last year. Fingers crossed for something similar this year. Advance Apple Black Friday Deals: AirPods

Apple AirPods Black Friday deals don't tend to offer huge discounts, but last year we saw $20 off the AirPods Pro, taking the price down to $229.99 at Best Buy. There are often discounts on older AirPods, so keep an eye out for those if you don't need the latest version. Unsurprisingly we're not seeing any deals on the new AirPods 3, but there could be discounts available as we get closer to Black Friday; watch this space!

In terms of the iPhone, the country you're in and the carrier and contract you want to go with will determine the type of discount you can get. We're already seeing some deals on the brand new iPhone 13 Pro – Verizon are offering it for free – so that bodes well for anyone looking for an older iPhone, too.
